I've never contracted before, how does it work and how do you make your money?
In simple terms you will either register your CV with PS Computer Services and indicate the type of role you are looking for, or you will have responded to one of our advertisements on the internet job sites. Either way, your CV will be presented to our client only after we have recieved your full written permission to do so. If our client considers your experience matches the profile of the job specification you will be asked to take part in an initial telephone interview and/or a face to face interview. If this is successful, a position may be offered.
At this stage a contract will be forwarded to you detailing the specifics of the assignment (such as start date, contract duration, rates etc) and any specific details relating to working for our client (such as dress code, confidentiality issues etc).
The contract will be between PS Computer Services Ltd and either your own Limited Company, an Umbrella Company or our own payroll service - this is entirely your decision and will depend on your personal requirements and financial position. We are not tax experts and would urge you to investigate the benefits of each thoroughly before deciding which route to take. Once a contract has been signed, you will commence on-site with our client on the agreed date, and a timesheet will be completed by you at the end of each week, and subsequently approved by your designated manager.
This should be submitted to PS Computer Services (along with a corresponding invoice if you choose the Ltd Company or Umbrella Company option). PS Computer Services will discharge this invoice on strict 28 day terms.
Should you also incur any pre-approved expenses, in addition to your contractual hourly or daily rate, these should be submitted separately. We will in turn invoice our client and pay you when we recieve payment from the client. This can take up to 2 or 3 months in extreme cases so adequate provision should be taken.
As the contract nears completion you will be contacted by PS Computer Services to ascertain whether there will be a renewal, and indeed whether you wish to continue.
I've never contracted before, I'd like to use an 'umbrella company'. Could you recommend one?
We can offer you our own payrolling service Carry That Weight. By using our service you will avoid all of the tax evasion schemes operated by many umbrella companies. Please take a look at all of the benefits of our payrolling services.
Do you provide a payroll service?
Yes. Please take a look at Carry That Weight, our payrolling service.
What does the PS in PS Computer stand for...?
The PS is made up of the initial letter of the surnames of the two company founders, Tony Parker and Christopher Shaw.
Who are your clients, are they just local to the South or are they more widespread?
